It seems the older a water bender gets, the more his skin turns lighter. Sokka had it happen. 

Skin got lighter too. 

I have to wonder if it’s the lighting of the North/South water tribes?

Was also thinking lifestyle might have changed, as well. Living in a city (and possibly spending more time indoors) could have caused lighter skin? Maybe?
